Every time I start to read native american history my soul slowly slips into a profound depression.
And so the first section of Days of Destruction Days of Revolt quickly took me to a numb place. There are countless stories of the genocide against native american Indians, some of them are ongoing even today. I slogged through, till I came to the other stories in the book — about other groups “sacrificed” for Progress, Manifest Destiny and Profit. Coal miners in West Virginia, dead industrial cities on the East Cost. Winding up, of all things, with the Occupy Movement. I’m afraid that the winds of the American Autumn quickly blew out. Well, I can recommend this book. It even has cartoons – graphical novel style. Buy it from Amazon below, better yet, borrow a copy from your public library – or find a used copy.
